MY PENFRIEND
=============
I wrote to you from across the sea hoping you would be
a pen-friend to me , you wrote me your first letter and
that I will keep , when I saw your photo my heart did
a leap , you were so lovely beautiful and fair I could not
wait to meet you I was so excited I could have jumped
up in the air , But I am serving my country in a far off
land , I wish I could just hold you as that would be so grand ,
I write you a letter every day , yes there is a photo of me on
the way , Could you please let me know your birthday date ,
as I have got you a present and don't want to send it to late ,
Your letter arrived in our mail bag today , I knew it was from
you by your writing way , You always start your letters with
Hello Bill and it always give me a thrill , the letters keep
me happy in this dreary place , without them I could not stand
the pace , I'm looking forward to the day we will meet ,
for it would be such a treat , I've now been in this foreign
land for some time I'll apply for some leave in two weeks time ,
I've got two weeks leave in seven days time , I'll meet you as
I come out of the customs line .
We are taking off everything seems fine up in the air we climb
and climb , our seat belts are still fastened as we level out ,
what is wrong I hear someone shout , we are banking and now
going down steep , I'm not dreaming I'm not asleep .
Is that a hole in the floor no it's a crack the fuselage is
breaking there's a gaping hole lots of deaths what a terrible toll .
Fire engines are racing to the scene of the crash , but they are
to late to stop the flames backlash , Will you miss me now that
I die please be brave for me and don't cry , I bought you no
flowers and did not say goodbye and now my spirit does always
sigh , I saw you at my funeral so fine and grand ,
you were the best friend I could ever have in the whole of the land .
